Cherish House - Maternity Home Iowa
Cherish House is a warm,
compassionate place for the young girl/woman between the ages of
12 to 25, who needs "a home away from home" during her pregnancy.
It's a place where she can deal with the past and prepare for
her future and the future of her unborn child. Whether she has
made the decision to parent her baby or place for adoption, or
whether she is yet undecided, we are here to support her.

Young mothers who are
experiencing the challenges of being a first-time mother, an
unplanned pregnancy, aloneness, or other difficult life situations
can come together twice a month to learn and to support one
another.
The
History of Cherish Center Des Moines Iowa
A woman had a vision…a maternity home in Iowa for
young women experiencing unplanned pregnancy. In the summer of
1999 she brought together a group of people to develop the vision
into a reality. They came with a variety of life experiences and
skills, determined to make a difference... for the women…for
the children.
Our
Vision for Cherish House Maternity Home in Des Moines
Cherish House Maternity Home, with compassion as its cornerstone,
will be more than a temporary shelter. It will be a home for young
pregnant women who desire to make the most of their lives. Each
will have the opportunity for personal growth through curriculum
designed to meet her needs, including life skills training in
finance, nutrition, homemaking, parent training, as well as
personal counseling, adoption assistance (when needed) and
spiritual support.
Our
Philosophy
Shepherd’s Fold Ministries will be
based on Christ-centered, biblical principles, not requiring
conversions, but emphasizing life changes through Christ and the
teaching of biblical principles. Residents will have open ears and
hearts, not caring where women come from, only focusing on who
they are when they leave our maternity home.

- Teen Abstinence
A one night event, each year in
January, to encourage the youth to remain sexually abstinent until
marriage. Kids learn about setting goals and the positive reasons
for saving sex for marriage.
Thee Garage
Sale
A wonderful thrift store that is a
win-win-win situation for everyone. Generous donors are able to
donate furniture and other household and baby items which are then
cleaned and restored by our committed volunteers and then sold to
help raise funds to operate Cherish House.
Donations
There is no cost for young women to
stay at Cherish House. Cherish House is supported by the loving
generosity of supporters.
